CAID Queen's Champions Equestrian, Archery and Thrown Weapons Tourney

Live Oak Park

October 30-31, 2010.

Noble lords and ladies, prepare to take the field of honor to vie for the privilege of becoming the Equestrian Championship for Her Highness. Riders of all skills are encouraged to take part in this tournament, and to show their prowess and martial skills in various games. Riders! You are encouraged, nay enticed, to bring your finest trappings, barding, and banners to bring color and pageantry to Her Highness’ field. There will be Mounted Archery, Javelin hunts, Double Quintain, and other mounted games (loaner equipment available). Please note that some of the tournament will take place outside the arena in the “woods.” Please bear in mind the honor and responsibility of serving as Her Majesty’s Equestrian Champion before competing for this title. If you would like to compete, but do not live in Caid or do not have the time to commit to serving on Her Majesty’s court, please consider competing “hors concours” (for the joy of competition but not for the title of Champion) instead. Pipe stalls are available for overnight camping/stabling. Please contact the EQ autocrat to reserve one for your faithful steed! EQ Steward: Dame Arabella da Siena at queenschampioneq@sca-caid.org. The honour of holding the title of Queen's Champion Archer is to be decided on the same day. All shoots will be at the discretion of Her Highness to determine Her Champion. On Sunday there will be IKAC's and novelty shoots as time allows. Archery Steward: THL Ihon MacLucasat queenschampionarchery@sca-caid.org. Not to be outdone by mere horses and arrows Caid's most skillful will compete for the glory of becoming Queen's Champion of Thrown Weapons. In this contest there will be a normal Thrown Weapons elimination with knives-axes and spears and the top four will move to the semi-finals. Semi-finalists will be revealed right before the semi-finals are to begin. Thrown Weapons Steward: Lady Chalice de Kyrkeland at queenschampiontw@sca-caid.org

Site fees for the weekend will be $14 for adults, $7 for youths 7-12, with under 7yrs being guests of the Shire. A non-member fee of $5 will be added to all who do not provide proof of membership at sign-in.

Directions:

MAP

Take your best route to Highway 101, head towards Santa Barbara. From the South: Take the State Street, Highway 154 exit. Head towards the mountains. Follow it for about 10 miles over the hill and back down into the valley. You will be almost to the bottom of the grade when you will turn right. From the North: Take the Highway 154/Cachuma Lake exit and follow it about 12 miles over the hills and back down into the valley. You will be almost to the bottom of the grade when you will turn left. It is easy to miss the entrance and have to circle around. The camp shares its entrance off Highway 154 with Rancho San Marcos Golf Course. Take an immediate left once you\'ve passed through that entryway. You will continue onto an unpaved road and through a small clearing. Parking will be on the right.
